Villages are the back bone of India
The rich and vibrant culture of India is in its village life. The people in the village follow their age old customs and lead a life in harmony with the nature without exploiting it.
The closeness of man with the nature can be seen in the traditions of their lives and especially in their dance and music that is very unique by itself.
To highlight all this and also to give the urban population a break from the monotonous and rapid life of the city the "sangamam" was conducted in the city of Chennai.
It consisted of most of the village dance forms and also featured many village instruments.
