A review about LASIK & iLASIK

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis abbreviated as LASIK is a refractive laser eye surgery done to correct some eye defects like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. This surgery has a great deal of advantage because it requires very less time for the patient’s recovery and is literally a painless one. This surgery was first developed by a Colombia-based Spanish ophthalmologist, Jose Barraquer. This surgery involves cutting the affected intricate areas of the cornea and shapes it to help the patient to get back his/her normal vision. This type of surgery is mainly used by NASA and military to increase the performance of their workers. As these people often face some extreme situations during their missions they need perfect eyesight to face those situations. This LASIK is certified by DOD (Department of Defense) and NASA as the most safer and efficient surgery that can be performed without any hesitations. The modern side of this LASIK is referred as iLASIK. This new technology uses two LASER beams instead of one, as in the previous version of LASIK. This combined LASER beam was found to be more effective and safe than the previous version.

This LASIK technology made wonders and improved the performance of the military men to several folds.

I hope this LASIK information would have been useful for all those who carry heavy spectacles up their nose and want to get rid of them badly!
